Wetherby System Delivers on Performance and Appearance
Wetherby is proud to have played a key role in the dramatic transformation of a semi-detached property in Exhall, Warwickshire – recently featured on Channel 4’s Worst House on the Street. What started as a tired, inefficient home is now a modern, high-performance space, thanks in part to our Four Seasons silicone render system, used in combination with ROCKWOOL® External Wall (DD) Slab insulation.
The Project
Homeowners Bradley Dodic and Billy Parsons took on the ambitious renovation with the dual goals of expanding their living space and improving the home’s energy efficiency. With rising energy costs top of mind, they chose a fabric-first approach to ensure long-term performance and comfort.
The full renovation – including a side extension and internal upgrades – was captured by Channel 4’s Worst House on the Street, showcasing the challenges and triumphs of bringing the outdated property up to modern standards.
“Wetherby’s render has been the perfect finish,”

The External Wall Solution
A critical part of the upgrade was the external wall build-up. To reduce heat loss, meet key U-value targets and provide long-term performance, Brad and Billy selected ROCKWOOL’s External Wall (DD) Slab, a non-combustible, dual-density stone wool insulation known for its strength, thermal efficiency, and acoustic benefits.
To complete the system, they chose Wetherby’s Four Seasons silicone render, a breathable and water-resistant solution designed to withstand the elements while maintaining a crisp, clean appearance.
Approved contractors Gaffney & Guinan delivered a high-quality installation of the full Wetherby system to the property.
Why Wetherby?
Our Four Seasons silicone render system was the ideal choice for this project:
- ✅ Weather-resistant and low maintenance
- ✅ Highly breathable, helping to prevent trapped moisture
- ✅ Durable and flexible, reducing the risk of cracking over time
- ✅ Available in a range of textures and colours for full design flexibility
Result
Once complete, the insulated and rendered exterior not only gave the home a fresh new look, but also significantly improved its performance. A post-renovation SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) assessment showed the home’s energy rating improved from a low D to just two points off a B – a substantial leap that reflects the effectiveness of the materials used.
“Wetherby’s render has been the perfect finish,” said Brad, reflecting on the system’s contribution to the overall transformation.

A Team Effort
Wetherby worked alongside ROCKWOOL’s technical team, Wetherby recognised contractors Gaffney & Guinan, and the homeowners throughout the process to ensure all products met the project’s requirements. With Brad and Billy project managing alongside their full-time jobs, manufacturer support and clear guidance were essential.
This project is a testament to how high-quality materials, applied correctly, can turn even the “worst house on the street” into a comfortable, efficient, and attractive modern home.
