A2 SOQEL - Below DPC & Base Area System

Wetherby Wall Systems is proud to launch the UK industry’s first fully fire-tested EWI system for below DPC and Base areas, achieving an A2-s1,d0 fire classification.

This unique system can be used below DPC, on walkways and balconies on buildings of any height, meeting Building Regulation fire requirements for buildings over 11m in height.

The system incorporates the Coverrock X-2 pre-coated insulation which provides a strong bond for coatings and protection to the A1 Stone Wool core during application. The Heck K+A SL provides a strong and durable coating with high impact resistance, ideal for areas liable to heavy wear and tear.

The system makeup is also specifically designed to protect against ground moisture and splashing water at low levels. The system is finished with the Heck 4S Silicone Render which can be used to match the External Wall Insulation and improve the aesthetic appearance in comparison with other solutions such as bitumen paint.

SOQEL Application Areas

Every building features a Damp Proof Course (DPC) area, typically insulated using a thermal insulation composite system, either flush with or set back from the façade. Additional base areas along the façade also exist, each subject to specific fire protection regulations.

Fire Protection

Wetherby Wall Systems is launching the first A-rated EWI system specifically designed for use in base areas and below the DPC. Under UK fire regulations, all materials and systems used on buildings over 11m in height must achieve a minimum rating of A2-s1,d0 to EN 13501-1. This requirement can present challenges for high-rise buildings incorporating balconies, walkways, and plant rooms.

The SOQEL system has been fully fire-tested as a complete system, making it an ideal solution for these areas. It is also suitable for use on low-rise properties.

Below DPC Testing

The SOQEL system has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its suitability and stability for use at the base of a building and below the DPC. This includes advanced hydrothermal testing and thorough assessments of moisture protection, verifying its resilience.
